Chorale European Concert Tour

Oakland University's faculty-led non-credit program open to OU Chorale members. Oakland Chorale is a performing ensemble within the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance. Only auditioned members of the Chorale are eligible. Travel to Europe for ten days and sing in some of the world's most spectacular concert halls and performance spaces in Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia.

Students will fly together to Berlin, Germany, where they will enjoy a tour of the capital city's iconic sites, including the Brandenburg Gate, the Berlin Wall, the Berliner Dom, and the Reichstag. The following day, travel together to Dresden with a lunch stop and brief city tour in Leipzig.

The first concert will be in Dresden, where students will also seeing the Frauenkirche and Semperoper. After Dresden, travel to Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, where students will perform two concerts. The historic center of Prague is a UNESCO World Heritage Site

The third concert will take place in Vienna, Austria, home of Beethoven, Haydn, Strauss, Schubert, and Mozart. A city tour will encompass sites such as the Hofburg Palace, the Belvedere Palace and Gardens, and the State Opera House.

The fifth and final concert will take place in Bratislava, Slovakia, a historic and pedestrian-friendly city of narrow streets and picturesque squares.

The group will fly together back to Michigan from Vienna.

Requirements:  Must be a member of the OU Chorale.

This is a non-credit program; students who participate will not earn any credits or complete any academic course as a result.

Students will stay in double occupancy hotels throughout the tour.

Some meals are included in the program fee. Students will purchase meals independently at the many restaurants, cafes and bistros throughout the many countries with local variety.

Program Fee: $4,400

To be paid to OU on our MarketPlace payment system and includes: round-trip airfare, housing and some meals, ground transportation and all excursions while in Europe, and health insurance.

Additional Costs: $575

You will need additional funds for these expenses not covered by program fee. Amounts are estimated.

Scholarships and Financial Aid: as this is a non-credit program, scholarships and financial aid are not available.
